no you really dont, just use the built in windows protection... virus software SLOWS down a computer on the internet alot and also slows a computers boot up time to almost a halt

''The best'' varies depending on who does the review and when. Kaspersky was the highest rated last I checked, but I don't keep up to date on AV software as I have little to no need for it and try to avoid any work that does.
